Golden Age Fair comes to Needham Market

Rural Coffee Caravan’s 30th Golden Age Fair will take place on Friday 24th May at Needham Market Community Centre. The fair, supported by award-winning developer Hopkins Homes, is free to visit and will feature activities, advice and support services for older people to help them remain fit, healthy and independent.

Visitors to the fair will be able to find out more information and chat to organisations about issues such as help with heating costs, memory or mobility concerns, eco-friendly products, concerns about scams or where to find local activities to take part it.

Ann Osborn from Rural Coffee Caravan said: “These events have become a very well-known part of our work in Suffolk. They offer a friendly ‘one stop information shop’ for older people and their families.

“The chance for one-to-one conversations with the agencies is a real opportunity to find out what support they give and if it’s for you. By adding other attractions, we think it offers a very worthwhile and enjoyable morning out.

“If anyone feels a bit fed up with their own company, come and join us, our lovely volunteers will be ready to welcome everyone and are only too delighted to sit and chat to our guests over a cuppa and cake!”

Joshua Hopkins of the Hopkins Charitable Fund said: “Isolation and loneliness can have such marked effects on both mental and physical health that we are delighted to be able to support the very valuable work the Rural Coffee Caravan does throughout the county.

“The Golden Age Fair is a fantastic opportunity for people to find out what help and support services are available but also to meet and chat to other members of the community.”

As well as support and advice visitors can take advantage of the free slipper and walking stick ferrule exchange, try out New Age Kurling and Boccia, take part in creative activities and admire a display of model boats and vintage Meccano.

The Golden Age Fair will take place 10am – 1pm on Friday 24th May at Needham Market Community Centre (IP6 8BB). For more information about the fair or Rural Coffee Caravan visit
