EPIC Dad would use the £7,000 to continue to develop our EPIC Dad Survival Project. The project offers new or expectant dads a fatherhood preparation group (EPIC Dad Survival Session) where they receive training, advice, and support.

In addition, each new dad receives a backpack (EPIC Dad Survival Kit) filled with useful items to support the new dad and their baby. The backpacks contain 10 items (five for the dad and five for the baby) and lots of helpful leaflets with advice and information about groups available for fathers and families.

£7,000 would help FIND to purchase more beds, cookers and washing machines for individuals and families in needs. The positive impact of sleeping well, wearing clean clothes and having access to cooked food can’t be overstated, particularly for children who, as a result, can learn better, have better mental wellbeing and feel less isolated from their peers.

Any money received from the vote will go towards refurbishment and improvement to Gatehouse’s Dementia Hub, including additional toilet facilities and refreshment areas. The Hub provides specialist support, advice, guidance and counselling services through a range of methods and support organisations, ensuring those with mental health issues can gain a better understanding of their situation and how to manage and improve their mental wellbeing.

£7,000 would enable Just42 to fund a support worker for our mentoring project for two years. Young people are referred to us for mentoring by their head of year at school, one of our team of 20 volunteers then meets with the young person on a weekly basis. The mentoring can last for as long as the young person needs us.

An extra support worker would enable us to increase the capacity of this valuable project, allowing us to train and supervise more volunteers and cut down waiting times for the young people.

Loneliness is everyone’s business and £7,000 would fund 15 visits of our mobile information cafes which each bring a vital ‘social space to a rural place’. Our visits are a catalyst which give residents a chance to not only connect & grow friendships, but also empowers them with access to information about supportive services they may need but otherwise never know about, enabling them to grow & develop other village activities and strengthen their community.
